Lantern 1 Pendant from Apparatus with a slip-cast porcelain form that floats along a rigid brass structure. In the Lantern series, the glow is punctuated by finely incised fluting, connecting to the most essential element of historical lanterns - light passing through a delicate protective form.

Apparatus is a New York-based interdisciplinary design studio that explores the relationship of lighting, furniture, and objects in their environments. Predicated on the modernist principle of Gesamtkunstwerk, or total work of art, fully articulated collections reveal individual pieces as artifacts of a holistic world - each referencing the historical and cultural mood summoned by a singular vision.

Materials

Armature in Blackened Brass, Aged Brass, Tarnished Silver, Oil-Rubbed Bronze, or two-toned. Slip-cast, fluted porcelain shade.
